First run

ClearView is a player, not a content provider — it comes with no channels of its own. The first time you open it, it lands on Settings so you can point it at your provider. Add an M3U playlist or Xtream Codes login and your channels appear straight away.

Installing on your TV

ClearView installs like any other Google TV app — straight from the Google Play Store. No computer, no sideloading, nothing technical.

1. On your Google TV, open the Play Store from the apps row — or hold the remote’s assistant button and say “ClearView IPTV”.
2. Search for ClearView IPTV and open its listing.
3. Select Install. When it finishes, ClearView appears in your apps row — open it to add your provider.

That’s the only step. Everything else — your playlist, the guide, favourites — is set up inside the app.

Connect an M3U playlist

If your provider gives you an M3U / M3U8 URL, this is the quickest route:

1. Open Settings from the navigation rail.
2. Choose Add M3U playlist and paste your full playlist URL.
3. Save. ClearView fetches and parses it off the main thread, groups channels by their group-title, and pulls logos from tvg-logo.

The URL is persisted, so the playlist reloads automatically the next time you open the app.

Connect Xtream Codes

For providers that use Xtream Codes, sign in with your account instead of a playlist URL:

1. In Settings, choose Xtream Codes login.
2. Enter the host (e.g. http://example.com:8080), your username and password.
3. ClearView talks to the provider’s real player_api.phpto load live channels and VOD using the provider’s own categories, and reads the EPG from your account’s xmltv.php.

Update from a computer

Typing a long playlist URL with a remote is no fun. Instead, with the TV on its setup screen, you can send the playlist from your phone or computer and the TV picks it up — no typing on the TV at all.

1. On the TV, open Settings → Update from your computer and leave it open. It shows a device address (like 02:1a:79:3c:8f:21), a 6-digit PIN, and a QR code.
2. On your computer or phone, go to greathouse.co.nz/clearview/setup — or just scan the QR code, which fills in the address for you.
3. Enter the PIN, paste your M3U URL or enter your Xtream Codes login, and press Send to my TV. The TV switches over within a few seconds.

Using the app

• Live TV — the home screen, with an “ON NOW” hero and rows of channels grouped by category.
• Guide — every category as a browsable row, plus a real time-grid EPG when XMLTV data is available.
• Favourites & Search — quick ways back to the channels you watch most.
• Continue watching — the last channel you opened is waiting in the hero next time you launch the app.
• The clock — always top-right, where you instinctively look.

Troubleshooting

• Nothing loads after adding a provider. Double-check the URL or host for typos, and confirm the same link works in a browser or VLC. A trailing slash or missing port is the usual culprit.
• One channel won’t play but others do. That stream is likely offline or geo-blocked — it’s not an app problem. ClearView auto-recovers from temporary buffering and network errors on its own.
• No guide data. Your provider may not publish XMLTV. Live TV still works fully without it.
• Logos missing. Logos come from your playlist’s tvg-logo tags; if the provider doesn’t set them, a placeholder is shown.
